Lesson 2
Lesson 1 gave you the map of codependency—what it is, how it operates in your brain and body, and why it persists. But understanding codependency intellectually is not the same as being able to work with it in real time. To do that, you need a foundational set of psychological skills that most people have never been taught: the ability to notice your own emotional responses as they happen, to understand what your emotions are actually telling you, and to regulate your internal state without defaulting to caretaking someone else.
The Psychological Foundations: Basics course is where that training begins. It covers eight essential lessons—from the case for why healing matters, to how emotions function as information, to the mechanics of emotional regulation. For the codependent, these skills are especially critical because codependency works by redirecting your attention outward—toward the other person's feelings, needs, and crises—so that you never have to sit with your own. Learning to notice your own emotional landscape is the first act of reclaiming a self that codependency has trained you to ignore.
Complete the Basics course, then return here for Lesson 3, where you will apply everything you've learned directly to your codependent patterns.
Required Course
8 lessons · Build emotional awareness, understand the subconscious, and learn to read your emotions as information.
Once you've completed the Basics course, you'll have the emotional awareness and self-observation skills needed to begin applying those principles directly to codependency. In Lesson 3, you'll learn to identify your specific codependent triggers, recognize the caretaking impulse as it activates in your body, and use grounding techniques to create space between someone else's crisis and your automatic response to fix it.
