Healing Depression

A guided course for understanding and healing depression

    Healing Depression Course

A structured, lesson-by-lesson course designed to help you understand the roots of depression, stabilize yourself when you are in crisis, and rebuild a life that generates genuine meaning rather than just managing symptoms. Each lesson alternates between deep psychological foundations and hands-on application to depression specifically.

8 lessons · Includes 4 Psychological Foundations courses

Lesson 1 – Ground Beneath Your Feet

Before anything else, you need to be safe. This lesson provides emergency resources including the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, a guided safety plan you can build right now, and grounding techniques designed to pull you back into your body when depression has pulled you out of the world. This is not theory—this is triage.

Lesson 2 – What Depression Actually Is

    Complete

Depression is not laziness, weakness, or a character flaw. This lesson walks through the major psychological theories of depression—Beck's Cognitive Triad, Learned Helplessness, the Behavioral Activation model, the Interpersonal theory, and the concept of anger turned inward—so you can begin to see the machinery operating beneath the surface of what feels like "just being broken."

    3

Lesson 3 – Learning to Notice

The foundational psychological awareness that makes depression recovery possible. Depression narrows your attention to threat and loss—this course teaches you to observe your own emotional responses as they happen, rebuilding the internal awareness that depression has systematically shut down.

Lesson 4 – The Symbolic Mind

    Complete

The Intermediate psychological foundations course—where you learn how your brain assigns meaning to experiences in milliseconds. Depression distorts this process, making neutral events feel like proof of worthlessness. Understanding symbolic misattribution is the first step to interrupting it.

    5

Lesson 5 – Breaking the Cycle

Guided exercises to interrupt the specific mechanisms that keep depression locked in place. Trigger Mapping to identify what pulls you under, Chain Analysis to trace the full sequence from trigger to shutdown, Cognitive Restructuring to challenge the distorted conclusions depression forces on you, and Behavioral Activation to rebuild momentum when everything in you says "what is the point."

Lesson 6 – The Architecture of Collapse

    Complete

The Advanced psychological foundations course—the core beliefs and identity structures that were formed long before depression became your default state. This is where you learn how early experiences built the lens through which you see yourself, others, and the future—and why that lens keeps producing the same hopeless conclusions.

    7

Lesson 7 – Rebuilding from the Inside

The most important work in depression recovery is not eliminating sadness—it is building a life that generates genuine meaning. Values Clarification to discover what actually matters to you beneath the numbness, Life Wheel Assessment to see honestly where depression has eroded your life, Best Possible Self visualization to begin constructing a future worth moving toward, and Future Self Meditation to start building the neural pathways of the person you are becoming.

    Lesson 8 – Integration & Wholeness

    Complete

The final level of psychological foundations—integrating everything you have learned into a coherent, lived understanding of yourself. Recovery from depression is not about reaching a permanent state of happiness. It is about building a self that can hold sadness, loss, and disappointment without collapsing—and that can also hold joy, connection, and meaning without waiting for them to be taken away.
