Lesson 2
Lesson 1 mapped the territory of perfectionism—what it is, how it forms as a learned protective strategy, and why it resists the willpower-based fixes that most people try first. But understanding perfectionism intellectually is not the same as catching it in motion. The compulsive revising, the catastrophic forecasting, the freeze that masquerades as "high standards"—these patterns run faster than conscious thought, and they cannot be interrupted by tools you don't yet have the awareness to apply.
The Psychological Foundations: Basics course is where the underlying skill set is built. It covers eight essential lessons—from the case for why healing matters, to how emotions function as information, to the mechanics of emotional regulation. For perfectionism specifically, these foundations are non-negotiable: without the capacity to notice the pre-perfectionist signal (the tightening, the urge to redo, the flicker of inadequacy), every technique in the later lessons collapses into another performance to optimize. Self-observation is what breaks that loop.
This course teaches the foundational relationship with your own inner world that all perfectionism healing depends on. Complete the Basics course, then return here for Lesson 3, where you will apply that awareness directly to recognizing and grounding perfectionist activation in real time.
Required Course
8 lessons · Build emotional awareness, understand the subconscious, and learn to read your emotions as information.
Once the Basics course is complete, the self-observation skills required to work with perfectionism in real time are in place. In Lesson 3, those skills are applied directly—identifying personal perfectionist triggers, challenging all-or-nothing thinking as it occurs, and building grounding practices that interrupt the cycle of impossible standards before it escalates into paralysis or compulsive overwork.
