Milan Systemic Family Therapy was created by a group of therapists but is most attributed to Mara Palazzoli. Milan Systemic Family Therapy is unique in its approach due to the collaborative aspect of the theory. Multiple therapists are involved in treatment as a team to analyze the family and offer solutions or insights. The theory proposes that family problems are caused by a lack of knowledge of the experiences of individual family members or games of control in which family members attempt to control one another.
